St Mary’s Seafood and More – St. Mary’s, GA

Heading back to the JAX airport, on the same trip that took me to Gold House Restaurant in Nahunta, we needed to grab some dinner and, being that close to the beach, seafood was requested.  My navigator was searching for restaurants on his cell and up popped St. Mary’s Seafood and More in St. Mary’s, Georgia.  The reviews were good (on Yelp and Urbanspoon) and it was fairly close to I-95.

We knew we had enough time for a sit-down dinner without having to worry about rushing to get through security at the airport, so I pulled up my Map app and off we went.  We headed down into St. Mary’s and followed the directions.  We entered a neighborhood.  Then the pavement ended.  Then the road ended.  This didn’t look terribly promising.

So I phoned the number on the yelp reviews and found out that the address that I had pulled up was incorrect.  We got the correct address and within eight minutes had pulled up, walked in and been seated.

It was 5:30-ish and the place was about a third full.  The decorations were those of an old seafood shack combined with random plans and posters of industrial boilers and ships.  I ordered the blackened tilapia with a baked potato. It arrived hot and delicious.   And very reasonably priced.  My cohorts both had the coconut shrimp, which was served with a Thai chili dipping sauce, of which they were both quite fond.

This place is one of those serendipitous finds – a local seafood spot, away from the crowds of tourists and very reasonably priced.
